VarageSale, Where Have You Been All My Life?

VarageSale logoI must admit, being a blogger is a pretty sweet gig. I get to find out about all kinds of cool products and resources and share them with readers. When I heard about an application called VarageSale – being the frugal gal that I am – I knew I had to check into it more!

What is it?
VarageSale is a virtual yardsale where you can buy and sell items within your local trusted community. It is a FREE app and available on iOS, Android and Kindle devices or you can check it out at

So, how does VarageSale work?

● First, you join a community (or communities) in your desired location.

● To Buy:  Rather than spending big bucks in a department store, you can browse the feed to buy items from nearby folks and save! If you find an item you would like to buy, comment on it and let the seller know you are interested. After you find items to buy, private message the seller to confirm all transaction details and set up a pickup location. Many choose a public parking lot.

● To Sell: You can post items to sell such as clothing, accessories, home decor, etc. to the feed and make extra cash! Simply snap a picture of the item(s) you would like to sell and add a good description. Then, interested buyers will contact you.

My Personal Experience

My local VarageSale community is incredibly active and so passionate about buying and selling, I was actually kind of shocked. Why I haven’t I been doing this before now?! I started off by downloading the app to my Android and connected it with my Facebook account. Easy peasy. Now, the fun begins!

Our community has something called OSD or One Stop Drop. It is a specified public location where all the sellers and buyers can meet up once a week. I love this, since it makes it much safer and super convenient for all involved.

Christy with turquoise necklaceI put some of my stuff one there and someone contacted me about it within the first hour. Score!

One of my favorite finds was this turquoise necklace for only $4.00! I messaged the seller that I was interested and we agreed to meet at that week’s OSD. When I got there, the parking lot was hopping! The seller was really nice and my first time experience at a OSD was very pleasant!

Another cool feature?  Wanted items. I am currently looking for 4 matching valance curtains, but still haven’t found the perfect ones yet. Luckily, they have an option to post wanted items, so I am waiting to see what comes up!

Overall, I love it so far. I have found so many cool deals this past month and am hoping to partake in the OSDs each week so I can start making room (and extra money!) for this upcoming holiday season!
